Plus if you've booked accommodation with Holiday Niseko you can add private transfers here from June 15th.

So whats the best option for you?

The Resort Bus — Small group? Great value

The Hokkaido Resort Liner runs a direct bus service between New Chitose Airport and Niseko's Hirafu Welcome Centre. The journey takes between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on road and weather conditions. There's a comfort stop along the way, and Holiday Niseko offers a complimentary pick-up service between the Hirafu Welcome Centre and your Hirafu accommodation.

Multiple departures run daily from both the domestic and international terminals, so getting here the same day is easy. Keep in mind that advance reservation is required and seats fill up fast during peak weeks.

Resort Liner also offer a service between Sapporo City and Niseko with one bus per day departing early morning with stops at most major hotels in the city.

Best for: Budget-conscious travellers, solo travellers, couples, and anyone comfortable with a shared transfer.

The Train — Scenic but Slow

If you've just landed in Japan and want to dive straight into the experience, the train is a great option. Japan's rail network is famously punctual, most signage is in English, and the views of the city, suburbs, coastal cliffs, mountains, and snow-covered fields remind you that you're on an adventure in a land far from your own.

The journey to Kutchan Station involves a transfer at either Sapporo or Otaru, with a total travel time of around three hours. The fare from New Chitose Airport to Kutchan runs approximately ¥3,000 - ¥4,000 depending on the route taken. From Kutchan Station, Holiday Niseko can arrange a paid pick up service to your accommodation or a taxi is also a practical solution especially if there is just a couple of you.

The train for all its romance, does have some important considerations though. Luggage storage is limited, and ski and snowboard bags can be difficult to manage on a busy train. Services can also be prone to delays or cancellations during heavy snowfall — and those are exactly the powder days you don't want to miss. If your flight arrives late or you have a tight connection, the train leaves little room for error.

Best for: Adventurous solo travellers, JR Pass holders, and those who want to take their time and see a little more of Hokkaido.

Private Transfer — Door to Door Service

For groups of four or more, private transfers start to make a lot of sense. You're met at arrivals by a driver holding your name, your bags go straight into the vehicle, and you're delivered directly to your accommodation. No bus schedules, no train changes, no waiting in the cold at midnight. Holiday Niseko works with trusted providers that offer a range of vehicle sizes to suit every group.

An important note for guests staying in Lower Hirafu Village: microbuses and larger private transfer vehicles are unable to make drop-offs in the lower village due to road access restrictions. In these cases, Holiday Niseko's complimentary pick-up service from the Hirafu Welcome Centre is the practical solution — simply book your transfer to the Welcome Centre and we'll handle the rest.

Best for: Families, groups of four or more, or guests who want the most seamless arrival and departure possible.

A Note on Booking

The Resort Liner fills up fast at peak dates, private transfer availability gets thin in January and February, and while the train can technically be booked on the day, it's best planned ahead — especially if you have specific connection timing to manage.

Holiday Niseko guests can add Resort Liner and private transfer options directly to their booking with just a few clicks, and our complimentary pick-up from the Hirafu Welcome Centre ensures the last leg of your journey is seamless.
